Arabescato Cervaiole – 78

Arabescato Cervaiole is a beautiful white Italian Marble with a white to grey background and a lighter grey, to dark grey, inked veining. A classic Italian Marble quarried at high altitude from Mount Altissimo, which gives it its other names as Statuary Altissimo (when a really good block is produced) or Arabescato Altissimo, which is the more normal production. Located at the southern tip of the marble quarry range in the Carrara area, and set just above the famous towns of Pietra Santa and Forte di Marmi, you can see for miles at the top of the quarry, out into the Ligurian sea to Elba (the Island where the British exiled Napoleon) and over to the Cinque Terra up the coast to the north. The Cervaiole quarry is the highest quarry in the region, which makes the marble difficult to quarry and production becomes sparse in winter times. As with all Italian white marbles, the whiter the bacground, more balanced the veins, the better the blocks. Good blocks from the quarries are hard to come by, but when they do they are fantastic and on a par with Statuary and Calacatta.
